FACILITIES AT THE PENINSULA
Because every suite here is self-catering, the facilities are built around people who are staying a while as much as people passing through. There are two pools, one of them heated and open off the gym on the first floor, a sauna, a games room and a Tech Room the kids tend to find first. Downstairs there is a business centre, a guest relations desk that books tours and car hire, and a concierge who knows the city. A free shuttle runs within 8km, groceries can be delivered to your kitchen, and room service runs 24 hours for the nights nobody feels like cooking.

The gym is fully equipped and open to guests throughout your stay, so a routine does not have to pause for the trip. A personal trainer who is also a sports therapist takes appointments and offers remedial massage. Afterwards, the private sauna is a good place to sit and do nothing at all.

The outdoor pool sits on the deck alongside Strolla, a few steps from the promenade and the sea air. It is the part of the hotel where afternoons disappear: a swim, a lounger, something cold from the bar, and the light going gold over the Atlantic by early evening.

The heated pool is reached off the gym on the first floor, which makes it the one that gets used when the Cape wind is up and the outdoor deck is not tempting. Regular water aerobics classes run here, and swimming towels are provided so you can walk down with nothing.

The Tech Room is open to Peninsula guests only and holds a good choice of family-friendly gaming consoles, including Xbox, Xbox One and PlayStation. There are tablet stations with internet access alongside them. It is usually the first place younger guests find and the last place they leave.

A complimentary door-to-door shuttle runs within an 8km radius of the hotel, which reaches the V&A Waterfront, the City Bowl and much of the Atlantic Seaboard. The My City bus service stops close by for anything further afield. Airport transfers are arranged separately through the desk.

The Society Room and the Executive Boardroom handle meetings, training sessions and functions, with projectors, screens, sound and flip charts on hand and catering arranged in-house. Strolla and Faces open up for larger gatherings and celebrations.
TIME OFF

Wellness here is a properly equipped gym, a private sauna, a heated pool a few steps away on the first floor, and a personal trainer who doubles as a sports therapist and offers remedial massage by appointment. For a hotel where half the guests run the promenade before breakfast, that turns out to be the useful combination.
WHERE YOU WILL BE STAYING
Studios through to three-bedroom Royal Suites, each with a kitchen, a lounge and a balcony over the promenade.
