OUR VILLAS

Room for Everyone, Right on the River

The villas at Stonehill River Lodge are built for people travelling together. Open-plan kitchens run into lounge and dining areas, floor-to-ceiling windows put the Breede River and the surrounding mountains in front of you from the sofa, and an indoor fireplace takes care of the winter evenings.

Each villa has its own entrance and a furnished patio with a braai, gas in the larger units and wood in the smaller ones. Six-sleeper villas have a private hot tub on the deck. The five eight-sleeper villas share two communal hot tubs on the riverbank. Housekeeping runs Monday to Saturday.

Everything you need for self-catering is already in the kitchen, from cutlery and crockery to a fridge freezer, a microwave, an espresso machine and detergents. There is no shop on the property, so do your shopping in Swellendam on the way in and then stay put.

What kind of accommodation does Stonehill River Lodge offer?

Stonehill River Lodge is entirely self-catering. Every villa has a fully-equipped kitchen, an open-plan lounge and dining area with an indoor fireplace, a separate bathroom alongside the en suite, and a furnished patio with a braai.

Do the villas have hot tubs?

Some do. The six-sleeper villas each have a private hot tub on their own deck. The five eight-sleeper villas share two communal hot tubs on the banks of the Breede River, a short walk from the units.

Are the villas serviced?

Yes. Housekeeping runs Monday to Saturday at Stonehill River Lodge, with no service on Sundays or on selected public holidays. Linen and bath towels are provided. Swimming towels are not, so pack your own.

Is there air conditioning in the villas?

No. The villas at Stonehill River Lodge have ceiling fans, panel heaters and an indoor fireplace for the colder months. Each one also has DSTV on selected channels, a safe, an iron and a hairdryer.

Are the villas suitable for guests with limited mobility?

No. There are stairs in all of the villas at Stonehill River Lodge and the units are not wheelchair friendly. Tell reception before you travel if anyone in your party needs level access, so they can advise you honestly..

What do I need to bring to a self-catering villa?

Food and drink, mainly. Stonehill River Lodge has no shop, restaurant or bar on the property, so shop before you arrive. The kitchens carry cutlery, crockery, a fridge freezer, a microwave, an espresso machine and detergents.
