ARRIVAL BY WATER
Everything at Malkoha faces outward. The pools look into the wetland, the restaurant sits above the waterline and the boma is built where the fire can be seen from the water.

LODGE FACILITIES
At Malkoha everything in it exists to put you closer to the lake or the forest: two swimming pools set against the iSimangaliso wetland, an outdoor bar and viewing deck angled at the sunset, a spa with the forest on one side and the water on the other, and a jetty that doubles as the arrival point and the launch point for everything that happens on the estuary.
DINING
Every meal draws inspiration from the lake, the forest and the coastal abundance that defines iSimangaliso. From sunrise breakfasts on the deck to firelit feasts beneath the stars, each dish tells a story of connection, crafted with local ingredients and quiet intention.

With Lake St Lucia stretching beyond the terrace, morning coffee and birdsong give way to leisurely lunches and candlelit dinners inspired by Zulu tradition and coastal flavours.

As dusk settles over Lake St Lucia, guests gather by crackling fires to share stories and flame-grilled feasts inspired by Zulu and South African traditions, beneath the stars and to the sounds of the bush.

Beneath the dappled canopy of the ancient Sand Forest, high tea unfolds with warm scones, sweet and savoury treats and fragrant botanical teas, inviting you to linger in nature’s quiet company.

WELLNESS
Treatments can be taken in the spa or brought to your own chalet, and a thirty or forty-five minute treatment can stand in as one of your curated activities for the day.

DOWNTIME
With iSimangaliso’s wetlands as your backdrop, unhurried days flow from refreshing dips in the pool to sundowners on the elevated viewing deck.

JETTY
The arrival point for your Ferry Transfer and the launch point for guided cruises, fishing trips and scenic lake tours.

FERRY
Guests are invited to park at False Bay and arrive via a 45-minute scenic ferry ride across the lake. Transfers are included in your stay.
RELAXATION

The Dream Spa sits with forest on one side and lake on the other, and treatments draw on natural botanicals and the restorative qualities of the place itself.

Activities
Guided days on the estuary and in the forest, with two curated activities included each day.
Meals are served at the Lake View Restaurant above the estuary, at the lakeside boma on alternate evenings, and beneath the sand forest for the African High Tea. There is one kitchen behind all three, working to seasonal menus.
The evening opens with the call of the kudu horn and a hand-washing ritual with a bowl and calabash. Dinner comes off an open fire beside the lake, and on alternate nights Zulu song, drumming and storytelling carry the meal into the night.
Yes. The Dream Spa at Malkoha Lake St. Lucia sits between forest and lake and offers treatments drawn from natural botanicals. Treatments can be taken in the spa or brought to your chalet, and a short treatment can count as one of your daily curated activities.
There are two swimming pools on the lodge terrace, set against the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, with an outdoor bar and viewing deck alongside. Swimming towels are available at reception.
Wi-Fi is available in the chalets and public areas. There is a Vodacom tower on the property, so Vodacom coverage is good while other networks can be patchy on the Kwa-Nibela Peninsula.
The lodge runs a backup generator. Some services may pause while it is running, and there is no battery lighting if the generator itself fails, so reception will tell you what to expect on the day.
Guests park securely on the mainland at False Bay before crossing to the lodge by ferry. Close your windows, lock the vehicle and take everything you need for the stay with you.
There is a curio shop stocking travel essentials and local crafts. Malkoha Lake St. Lucia is a long way from the nearest town, so bring anything you cannot do without.
