DINING AT PIEKENIERSKLOOF
Kloof Restaurant sits in the main building at the top of Piekenierskloof Pass, glass along one side and a deck running the length of it. The cooking is unfussy and generous, and the view does the rest.
Breakfast starts at half past six for anyone heading out early to walk, climb or drive the flower route. Lunch runs long. The kitchen stays open through to nine in the evening, and the menu changes often enough that a week here does not repeat itself.
Children get real options right across the menu, which is deliberate on a mountain resort where most tables have children at them. Vegetarian and vegan meals come on request, and the kitchen handles dietary requirements when you give it notice.

Indoors, under thatch, with the fire going on a cold Cederberg evening. The room is warm, the service is relaxed and nobody is hurried through a course.

Out on the deck, where Citrusdal and the Olifants Valley sit below you and the light moves across the mountains while you eat. The best table in the house is outside.

Our Other Dining and Social Spaces
The bar sits alongside the restaurant in the main building, well stocked with local beers and a good range of Cederberg wines. It is where most days up here quietly end, indoors by the fire in winter or out on the deck with the sun going down behind the mountains.
It doubles as the resort’s social room. Quiz nights, karaoke and cocktail evenings all run from here, along with beer and wine tastings and a gin and rooibos tasting built on what the surrounding valley actually grows. Groups arrange any of them with the resort ahead of a stay.
The bar closes at ten in the evening under normal circumstances. Later service for a function or a wedding is arranged in advance, with a cash bar as standard and a bar tab by arrangement.
DINING EXPERIENCES
From garden-inspired fine dining in Franschhoek to beachfront bistros and relaxed lodge-style meals, each Dream Hotels & Resorts venue is crafted to reflect its surroundings, pairing local flavours with elegant ambiance and warm hospitality.
Kloof Restaurant at Piekenierskloof Mountain Resort serves daily from 06:30 to 21:00, covering breakfast, lunch and dinner. The bar alongside it closes at 22:00, and later service for a function can be arranged in advance.
Booking is not usually necessary for a quiet night, but the restaurant does fill when a conference or a wedding is in, so it is worth reserving through reception if you are a larger group or you have a particular time in mind.
Yes. The menu at Kloof Restaurant carries kid-friendly options throughout, which is deliberate on a mountain resort where most tables have children at them.
Vegetarian and vegan meals are available on request. Halaal meals can be arranged at an additional per meal rate with fourteen days’ notice, as the meat is ordered in from Cape Town. The kitchen is not halaal certified and does not cater for strict halaal or kosher requirements.
Every self-catering chalet has a covered braai and a fully equipped kitchen. Guests staying in hotel rooms can use the communal braai facilities, with equipment pre-booked at reception and a surcharge applied.
Room service is available to guests staying in the hotel rooms and suites. Self-catering chalets are not on room service, since they come with their own kitchen, braai and dining area.
