WELCOME TO PIEKENIERSKLOOF
The drive does half the work. Piekenierskloof Pass climbs in long, easy curves off the N7 on the Cape to Namibia route, and by the time the road levels out at the top the town of Citrusdal is spread out below you and the Cederberg fills the whole horizon. The resort sits right there, lawns running down to the pool, with nothing in the way of the view.
Stay in a hotel suite with a patio or balcony over the valley, or take one of the self-catering chalets, which sleep up to six and come with a fully equipped kitchen, a fireplace and a covered braai. Either way the pace is yours to set. Families, couples and groups all find room here to relax and reconnect.
Days can be as full or as slow as you like. There is archery and air golf on the lawns, mini golf, remote control car racing, walking trails leading out into the fynbos and a games room stocked with a pool table and table tennis. Younger guests sign up for the Dream Xplorers programme at reception and work their way through the jungle gym, the trampolines and the outdoor chess set. Grown-ups tend to end up at the indoor heated pool or in the wellness centre.
Kloof Restaurant handles the rest, with meals served indoors or out on the deck where the valley does the decorating, and a well-stocked bar pouring local beers and Cederberg wines. Beyond the gate there is rooibos to taste at Carmien, wine at the Piekenierskloof tasting room, a nine hole golf course on the banks of the Olifants River, and in spring a wildflower season that turns the whole area into something worth driving for.
REST AND RECHARGE
Twenty-two hotel rooms and sixteen self-catering chalets, all of them looking out over the valley or the gardens. Pick the one that suits the trip.

Love this place. We visit at least once a year. A true relaxing experience. If you have kids, they’ll love the pools and trampolines. The lounge furniture and bathroom needs upgrading now though.

Testimonials
This was a lovely spot with friendly staff, excellent service, beautiful view amd enough to do to keep old and young entertained. We went for a winter weekend, and found the rooms really warm and cosy with the underfloor heating, and it was nice that it had lots of space and a comfy couch to spend your afternoon inside with the cricket on the tv, a boardgame and a lovely view. We will definitely be back!
